Missed PixelPop Festival 2017? Don’t Worry — We Have An Event for That: Pixel Pop Redux!
August 25th, 2017
If you missed PixelPop Festival 2017, or you were just too busy demoing games to be able to see some of the talks, this is the event for you, Pixel Pop Redux! The event happens September 5th at 7 p.m. at Riot Games on 7777 Bonhomme in Clayton, MO, 10th floor!
We will have the following talks that were given at PixelPop:
Thinking (It’s Harder Than You Think)
Speaker: Adam Coster, Butterscotch Shenanigans
Our lives are a sequence of decisions, but how do decisions even work? In this talk, Adam Coster of Butterscotch Shenanigans takes us on a mental adventure through the science, philosophy, and psychology of making decisions in life, business, and games. You’ll leave with a better understanding of yourself and the world, and freshly empowered to use the uncertainty of life to your advantage.
Contrast in Game Design
Speaker: Ben Cook, Well Bred Rhino
All you have to do to make your own video game is to make a universe. Ben Cook of Well Bred Rhino would like to share with you ways to create more dynamic and robust game experiences. This talk will be centered on gameplay-focused world building by highlighting the contradiction of action game controls, the liberation found in metroidvania powers, and the constraints of how we perceive our own world.
Failure and the Artist
Speaker: Jillian Stiles, Graphite Lab
When you’re just starting out with a creative career, it can be easy to fall into a mindset that you’re failing. Join Jillian Stiles, an artist at Graphite Lab as she talks about her own creative methods, familiar feelings artists face and how failure is part of the process.
